Revenue from unit growth and price growth
A financial modeling exercise from Modeldrill. Solve it with a live spreadsheet grid in your browser, with Fill right and Fill down, and it is checked the moment you submit.
The task
Build revenue from two drivers. Units grow each year by the rate in B2 and the price per unit grows by the rate in B3. Fill units for 2027 onward (C6:F6), price for 2027 onward (C7:F7) and revenue for every year (B8:F8, units times price).
What this exercise teaches
Keeping units and price on separate rows means revenue growth can be explained as volume plus price. Pointing both rows at the same growth cell is a common slip: here units grow four times as fast as price.
A hint if you get stuck
Each driver row compounds from the cell to its left with its own locked rate. Revenue then multiplies the two cells directly above it, so it needs no dollar signs.
