Level 1: Model basics Exercise 8 of 45 Pro

Twelve months of subscribers

A financial modeling exercise from Modeldrill. Solve it with a live spreadsheet grid in your browser, with Fill right and Fill down, and it is checked the moment you submit.

The task

Build a monthly subscription forecast. Each month, the customers at the end equal the prior month less churn, plus new customers. Fill row 8 (January works from the starting customers in B2) and row 9 (revenue is month-end customers times price).

What this exercise teaches

Each month feeds the next, so one formula filled across builds the whole year. Customer counts show rounded, but the model keeps the fractions so revenue stays exact.

A hint if you get stuck

January uses B2 as the opening count. February onward uses the cell to its left: =B8*(1-$B$4)+$B$3 in C8, then fill right. The grid scrolls sideways.
