Grow revenue from one assumption
A financial modeling exercise from Modeldrill. Solve it with a live spreadsheet grid in your browser, with Fill right and Fill down, and it is checked the moment you submit.
The task
Revenue for 2026 is in B5 and the yearly growth rate is in B2. In C5, write a formula that grows the prior year by the rate in B2. Then fill it right to F5 (drag the fill handle, or select C5:F5 and press Ctrl+R). Lock the rate with dollar signs so it stays put when the formula is copied.
What this exercise teaches
The relative B5 becomes C5, D5 and E5 as the formula is copied, while $B$2 keeps pointing at the single assumption. Change the rate once and the whole row follows.
A hint if you get stuck
Each year is the year before times (1 + growth). Write it once in C5 as =B5*(1+$B$2): B5 moves along as you fill, $B$2 does not.
