Profit grid by price and volume
A financial modeling exercise from Modeldrill. Solve it with a live spreadsheet grid in your browser, with Fill right and Fill down, and it is checked the moment you submit.
The task
Fill the grid B6:F9 with operating profit for every combination of price (column A) and units (row 5): (price less variable cost) times units, less fixed costs. One formula, filled right and down.
What this exercise teaches
A two-way grid shows where the business turns profitable. The same mixed-reference pattern builds any two-input sensitivity.
A hint if you get stuck
Price is always in column A ($A6), units always in row 5 (B$5), and the two cost inputs are fully locked.
