From EBITDA to net income
A financial modeling exercise from Modeldrill. Solve it with a live spreadsheet grid in your browser, with Fill right and Fill down, and it is checked the moment you submit.
The task
Complete the bottom of the income statement: EBIT (row 7), earnings before tax (row 9), tax at the rate in B2 with no tax in a loss year (row 10) and net income (row 11).
What this exercise teaches
Each subtotal sits on its own row so the statement can be read line by line. The 2026 loss shows why the tax floor matters: without it, net income would look better than the cash reality.
A hint if you get stuck
Work down the column: EBIT is EBITDA less D&A, then less interest, then tax with a floor at zero. Fill each row right.
